| Eskedar Mulualem, sponsored by KHNK, holds up her very own care package made with love by KHNK. |
|
| KHNK aims to make a difference in the lives of children who routinely live without even the most basic necessities. Donating a care package is one way to make a difference in a needy child’s life. Care packages are usually freezer-size Ziploc bags filled with any of the following materials:
T-shirts
windbreaker jackets
light fleece jackets
rain gear/ponchos
toothbrush
toothpaste
bar soap
deodorant
age-and-grade-appropriate educational materials (such as Math and English workbooks)
first-aid materials (Lotrimin creams, Neosporin, alcohol swabs etc.)
a small wrapped gift (for Christmas care packages)
a personal letter addressed to the child

KHNK does accept donations of used clothing within care packages, but all used clothing must be in fairly good condition and lightweight. In an effort to minimize shipping costs as much as possible, we ask that care packages be made as lightweight as possible. Refrain from including any of the following:
electronic devices
any heavy educational materials (i.e. Play Doh, crayon boxes, etc.)
weighty hardback books
garments with inappropriate logos or graphics
dolls dressed in inappropriate clothing
food items (Absolutely nothing perishable or chocolate. Hard candy is acceptable)
heavy winter outfits
If you have any further questions or you are interested in donating a care package, please contact us to let us know. Please do not send a care package without contacting KHNK first! If you are an educator and have any lightly used educational materials that are reusable, please contact us as well. Thank you!
